Sonax Profiline Polymer Netshield

Introduction

Polymer Netshield (referred to as PNS from here) is a water-based, aerosol sealant from Germany’s detailing giant – Sonax, for use on all painted surfaces, plastic, PPF, and glass (avoid the windshield though). Regular users on our Discord server will have seen this product recommended countless times, and for good reason. It gives ceramic coating level beading, lasts 6 months, but is as easy to apply as a regular spray sealant. It can even be used as a topper for ceramic coatings!

Beading

ABOVE: A fresh coat of PNS after a downpour. The car was parked under a tree and you can even see where a droplet landed and caused a neat little “bead-henge”.

ABOVE: A zoomed in look showing how tightly this sealant beads. It’s even magnifying the surface so much that you can see the individual metallic flecks in the paint.

Application

Best applied with a “saver applicator”, however it can be easily applied using a sponge-cored microfiber applicator, or even a cloth. PNS requires very little product and has no cure time. It is a little grabby when wiping off, but using a short pile towel will make this easier. It’s  also recommended to apply in temperatures above 10C. For preparation, all it needs is a clean car – however it will benefit from more preparation, such as removing tar, wiping with panel prep spray, etc.

Paint Finish

It gives a reasonably glossy finish, but it’s also compatible with other Sonax sealants, like Ceramic Ultra Slick Detailer – so you get the best of both worlds, insane beading and insane gloss/slickness.

On Plastics

PNS also works very well at darkening and protecting plastic trim – below shows PNS on the left, with unprotected plastic on the right.

Longevity

I’ve been using it on my personal daily driver which is ungaraged, and it lasts a genuine 6 months. I can see this being stretched even further if it’s kept garaged. It will also survive going a couple of months unwashed, at which point you’ll reap the benefits watching 99% of 2 months old road grime come off with your prewash and the crazy beading returns!

Conclusion

PNS is one of those rare products that’s so good, I find myself not bothering to try other sealants. It’s nice being able to shake things up and use a compatible Sonax sealant though – for those washes where you just want to put something on. Ask anyone on our Discord that’s used it – they will all attest to how amazing this product is.
